You can convert files from other programs into PDFs by exporting them. Bluebeam Revu takes this concept several steps further by automatically creating plugins within many commonly used programs. These plugins allow you to modify intricate settings and bring important “vector” data from your files into a “smart” PDF.

A Microsoft Word file can be converted into a PDF within seconds, and it will retain its formatting, image properties, hyperlinks, and bookmarks. You can even create security permissions that restrict access to a file, along with requiring a password to open it.

These settings also apply to programs like AutoCAD and Revit. Each program has its own specific settings that allow you to create intelligent PDFs from DWGs and BIM files. Bluebeam has created plugins for Solidworks, SketchUp Pro, Navisworks, and other Microsoft Office programs.
